--We are very actively working to find a new dentist for the Dental Clinic. Until we do find one, we have offers of wonderful deep-hearted volunteer help. We do not even entertain the idea of the Clinic closing. There are too many children depending on it! |

--Not sure what to buy your boss, your neighbor, or your friends for Christmas???? How about making a donation to the Boys & Girls Club of Scott County in their name. Any amount will do! You may send your check and the name and address of the person(s) you are honoring to the address to the left. They will be informed of your generosity.
--Please put this reminder on your calendar and when the Christmas decoration sales start, remember that the B&G Club hope to have an event similar to the Knoxville Fantasy of Trees. You can purchase a tree and decorations this year for your company to decorate and donate next year!!! This event should be scheduled around the first of December 2008. A fun thing to do and a fun way to donate to the B&G Club. |

Bell ringers needed!
569-5938
|
--If you still would like to help ring the bell, please call 569-5938. We will be there until after Christmas! There is a real shortage of volunteer help this year.
--Thanks to all of you who guided families in need to our offices during the year. For Christmas we have 200 children (our limit) signed up for new toys or clothes. If you know of someone in need that did not make our list, the Unicorn Fund will be providing assistance to children as well. They are giving gifts away at the Old Capital Hill School, on Dec. 20 and 21 from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. They will need their food stamp card or proof of income and the children's social security card in order to receive the toys. |

Appalachian Relief Fund
Mary Patterson
Sevierville, TN |
--In the past year, Mary Patterson, RN, and Jo Stoffel have almost singlehandedly raised enough funds to purchase 2 tractor-trailer loads of food. She has bought toys and clothing, and gathered used clothing for hundreds….and sent it all to Scott County. She was recently told she would be given $100 -and she asked that it instead be sent to a student in Scott County that she heard was in need of special sized clothing. Mary will be coming with members of her church to the Winfield Baptist Church on December 19th! Mary is making a difference in our world. |
--The nominations are now ope |

Mission of Hope
Emmette Thompson
Executive Director |
--I cannot say enough about the people at Mission of Hope. Sending them a Wish List is like sending a letter to Santa. I look out the door and here they come with a truck load of donated goodies for the people of Scott County. We receive everything from refrigerators to springs and mattresses to computers and clothes. All for Scott County at no cost.
--From a recent Wish List, Emmette is providing the Boys & Girls Club 10 new guitars to further the music teaching program at the Club. If you recall, they asked the members if anyone would like to learn to play the guitar and 40 signed up. To date they have been able to collect about 12 guitars. Now 10 more kids may join the class. Thanks MOH!
--By the time this newsletter gets out, the Mission of Hope teams will have started going to all the Scott County elementary schools. Folks, I am not just saying they bring 2 toys per child-what I am saying is that they bring 2 NICE toys per child. The children are helped by an adult and taken though the line to pick both toys themselves. They even have additional stuffed toys for the kids to take home to their siblings. What a wonderful time it is watching this event unfold. |
